Former Packers quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre told Congress he has Parkinson’s.
Favre made the announcement during testimony to Congress, where he was called to talk about welfare misspending in his home state of Mississippi.
Front Office Sports was first to break the news, saying it obtained a copy of his prepared testimony.
In August, Favre promoted a documentary about concussions in football.
There are treatments but no cure. Parkinson’s disease itself is not fatal, but complications related to the disease can be: The CDC ranks them as the 14th leading cause of death in the U.S.
