OSHKOSH, Wis–The state Department of Transportation will not reopen the Jackson and Oregon Street Bridge in Oshkosh before repairs on made on the structure. City officials had floated the idea that the D-O-T would lower the span that has been open all summer now that the recreational boating season is done, allowing traffic to use the bridge during repair work.
A routine inspection back in May found that one of the gears that lift and lower the bridge leafs was worn and could fail. Repair work has been delayed by supply chain issues for replacement parts. That work will finally get underway in two weeks.
