OSKHSOH, WI — The City of Oshkosh will take a little more time before deciding whether to replace or rebuild the Jackson/Oregon Street drawbridge. Common Council members voted to delay consideration of resolution recommending a fixed bridge option to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
That decision came after Kurt Koeppler, with City Center Associates, owners of the former City Center Mall, said rebuilding the current bridge would be less disruptive to traffic serving City Center from Jackson Street. Though he believes a proposal that would reroute the bridge slightly west of its current location would be workable.
Council member Michael Ford believes rebuilding the span would be counter productive.
The common council is expected to take up the bridge recommend when it meets again it two weeks.
