Last Thanksgiving, it was announced that we would be getting another season of MST3K. Now it’s got an official release date…
AV Club reports that the 12th season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will make its debut on Netflix on Thanksgiving 2018, marking the 30th Anniversary of its very first episode on KTMA-TV in Minneapolis on Thanksgiving 1988.
Show creator Joel Hodgson, who grew up in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, has overseen the revival of MST3K, starting with a 2015 Kickstarter campaign which brought the cult classic back for 14 new episodes and a new home on Netflix. The new show lineup includes Jonah Ray as Jonah Heston, the latest captive on the Satellite of Love, his robot friends Gypsy (Rebecca Hanson), Tom Servo (Baron Vaughn), and Crow T. Robot (Hampton Yount), all held captive and forced to watch cheesy movies by mad scientists Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day) and Max a.k.a. TV’s Son of TV’s Frank (Patton Oswalt).
Ahead of the new season, Hodgson and Ray will hit the road for a 30th Annniversary live tour, which comes to Milwaukee on Thursday, November 15. (Tickets for the tour are on sale here.)
