deltaH Innovations, a London-based startup claims to have developed the world’s first self-cooling aluminum can.
This ‘Cool Can’ combines clever design with simple chemistry to make chilling magic happen with the press of a button.
The company claims that the Cool Can can lower the temperature of its liquid contents to about 42.8 – 44.6 degrees and keep them cool for up to 45 minutes.
The can looks like a normal aluminum can – save the large button the bottom. Here’s how the magic happens. Once the button is pressed, a water reservoir fills the space between the can’s double wall design – special salts embedded in those walls then react with the water to quickly cool the H2O inside.
There’s no news yet on when the startup plans to release the self-chilling Cool Can. So far, founder James Vyse says that the container is still patent pending.
So, in other words, just chill out for a bit.
