Remember when everybody looked to the future through the cartoon The Jetsons and thought we’d for sure have flying cars by now or at least a little dog-walking pad outside our floating homes? Well the flying cars are still (thankfully) a ways away and the closest we’ve gotten to a ‘Rosie the Robot’ maid is the Roomba… but that may be changing. Introducing NEO Gamma, the world’s first AI-powered humanoid robot butler, created by Norwegian robotics company 1X.
NEO Gamma is the next generation of home humanoids designed and engineered by 1X Technologies. The Gamma series includes improvements across NEO’s hardware and AI, featuring a new design that is deeply considerate of life at home. The future of Home Humanoids is here.
The robot can assist with a variety of household chores, like laundry, vacuuming, and washing windows. It can also serve food and drinks, respond to commands, and even have simple conversations with you.
To make the robot appear more human, the company teamed up with Japanese manufacturer Shima Seiki to create a soft, smooth suit that covers the robot’s metallic body.
“In the near future, we will all have our own household robots like Rosie or Baymax,” 1X CEO Bernd Bornig said.
I’d settle for WALL-E at this point in household humanoid innovations.
