“Gotta catch ’em all” is the central theme to the Pokémon phenomenon but maybe now “Gotta EAT ’em All” should be in play after a particularly-shaped and appropriately-flavored Cheeto sold for nearly $88K at auction.
A Flamin’ Hot Cheeto shaped like beloved Pokémon Charizard (referred to as “Cheetozard),has sold at auction after nearly a month for nearly $88,000, according to New Jersey-based Goldin, the online marketplace that hosted the auction.
The Cheetozard went up for auction in February’s Pop Culture Elite Auction, where it earned an initial bid of $250. Some 60 bids later, the spicy, critter-shaped snack earned a winning bid of $72,000 add in Goldin’s buyer’s premium, and the total cost of the Pokémon-shaped Cheeto came to a whopping $87,840.
Not surprisingly people questioned WHY would someone spend $88K on a single CHEETO… one saying, “What is wrong with people 😂😂?!” While others expressed their fondness for it – with one person commenting, “If I was on death row. I’d want this to be my final meal.”
