Missin’ those smooth sounds of 70’s/80’s radio? Well they’re sailing back to your TV screen as a rock doc (dock) that’s pulling into port at HBO/MAX.
HBO has unveiled the new trailer for an upcoming documentary about the emergence, popularity, and impact of the yacht rock sub-genre titled Music Box: Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary.
Director Garrett Price (Daisy Jones & The Six) explores how the era of soft rock rose and subsequently sunk with the rising tide of music videos.
The doc talks with many of the artists of the era (Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, Michael McDonald and more) who rode the smooth, sonic wind with yacht rock’s rise, fall and it’s (somewhat unlikely) contemporary popularity surge.
Music Box: Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary will cruise into your harbor on November 29th.
