Billed as “The Biggest Thing In Roller-Skate History” a new reality show is ready to hit the airwaves and the rink.
“Roller Jam” features the 10 best roller-skating teams in America ready to battle it out in hot wheels-to-wheels action for the chance to roll away with $150,000 plus a $10,000 donation to their local rink.
So imagine a combo team skating / Dancing With the Stars-type competition – and that’s “Roller Jam”.
Celebrity judges? Of course there will be famous/semi-famous/D-list people to add their expertise to the judging – it’s a reality show.
There will be celebrity judges, like figure skating champ Johnny Weir, roller skating legend Terrell Ferguson, and different celebrity judges each week include Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child, Maureen McCormick from “The Brady Bunch”, Pepa, Debbie Gibson, actress Marissa Jaret Winokur.
Maybe it’s not your jam but for those of us who spent a lot of time at the local “Skate Word” / “Skate Land” / “Skate-o-Rama” rink in our youth – maybe a bit of 80’s nostalgia is enough for us to tune in.
All I do ask of “Roller Jam” is for there to be a “couples’ skate” or “limbo” part of the competition.
“Roller Jam” is hitting Max on October 10th. It’s hosted by Jordin Sparks from “American Idol”, and produced by “Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines.
