Join us on September 8 at Maloney’s in Appleton for Rock For Rick, a benefit concert to help raise funds for former WAPL Morning Show Host, Rick McNeal. The event kicks off at 12 PM and will feature live music, a silent auction, raffles, delicious food, drinks, and more!
Rick, who spent 39 years entertaining listeners in Northeast Wisconsin, recently made the difficult choice to step away from WAPL due to ongoing health issues that began after the International Incident in early March. This is our chance to come together and support Rick as he navigates this challenging time.
The event will be emceed by Rick’s former co-host on The Rick and Cutter Show, Cutter, who continues to hold down the fort on WAPL Mornings from 6 AM to 10 AM, along with Len Nelson, who co-hosted with Rick on WAPL for over 35 years. Music starts at noon, and it’s a 21+ event with a $20 donation at the door.
There is a great lineup of entertainment for you to enjoy throughout the night on two different stages. The Glam Band will be there, known for their covers of the best 80s Glam Metal (Hair Metal or Pop Metal) while wearing their costumes, wigs, and makeup of the era. Anyone who loves and appreciates 80’s rock will enjoy this group and the energy that they bring to their shows.
Cool Waters Band, formed in 1993 in Appleton, will also be playing. They’re known for their mix of rock and pop, with a dedicated fan base across the Midwest.
Boxkar, a Wisconsin-based independent rock band, will be reuniting for a special performance at Rock For Rick! They are an amazing group and guarantee a great time!
Walt Hamburger, a solo artist who was part of the punk rock trio The Hamburgers, will also be there. Now an internationally known artist, Walt still plays local shows with Walt Hamburger & The Young Guns. He’s known for his range, from heartfelt ballads to rock ‘n’ roll.
And finally, A-Town Unplugged, an acoustic style group that is known for their feel-good music and harmonies will be taking the stage as well. They were formed in 1999, growing from a duo to a five-member band.
This event will be a great time for an even greater cause. Let’s come together to help the man who’s given so much to Wisconsin, and have some fun while doing it!
