WINNECONNE, Wis–Winneconne Police Chief Ben Sauriol may have saved the life of a pelican. Police were notified of a bird in distress along the Wolf River last Friday.
Chief Sauriol was able to capture the bird and found that it had fishing line wrapped around its beak and its left wing. The chief was able to cut the line and free the bird, returning it to the water.
