It should be another entertaining season of Welcome To Wrexham as the European football team – owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – secured promotion to League One Saturday for next season.
Last year, the Red Dragons were the Cinderella story by winning the National League championship and by doing so were automatically promoted to League One and a return to the European Football League after a fifteen year absence. On Saturday, Wrexham trounced the Forest Green Rovers 6-0 at the Racecourse Grounds, Wrexham’s home pitch. A win would clinch promotion only if MK Dons and Barrow – two other League Two clubs – would have lost points, which they did. The Wrexham fans were fully aware of the situation unfolding and rushed the pitch after the victory.

With this latest promotion to League One, Wrexham has moved from a Tier 5 league to a Tier 3 league in just two years. European football allows promotion for a club if they finish high enough in the standings (or “table” as it is known there) for the league they currently participate in.
North American fans can follow the club during the season and watch matches online at iFollow for a fee. This season will once again be featured during the next season of Welcome To Wrexham on FX and the Hulu streaming service.
