GRAND CHUTE, Wis–The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office releases more details on Tuesday’s officer-involved shooting in Grand Chute. Police were attempting to execute an arrest warrant on Pierce Folkerts around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex along West Spencer Street when Folkerts attempted to flee.

During the foot chase, Folkerts reportedly pulled out a weapon. When he refused to drop the weapon, Grand Chute Police Lieutenant Russ Blahnik opened fire–shooting Folkerts twice in the lower leg.

Investigators determined that the gun pulled by Folkerts was a facsimile weapon.

Blahnik is on administrative leave pending an independent investigation into the incident.
