A Wisconsin diver has become ‘friends’ with a wild fish and they now meet up every summer.
Rex Colubra became fish-friendly with a smallmouth bass in 2021 while snorkeling and ended up naming him Elvis (Elv-Fish?).
They formed a close bond at the time and Rex has since gone back to the Wisconsin lake snorkeling the past two summers to meet up with Elvis.
Colubra says they meet in the same spot, and he feeds Elvis crawfish.
And to prove their bond is isn’t just scale-deep, Colubra says he and Elvis have their own language, “I even taught him a call. I will do a gulping grunt sound with my throat and he’ll come find me.”
Elvis even gets territorial of Colubra, “Elvis will literally just fight other fish if they get too close to me to keep them away.”
A fish-tale as old as time.
