OSHKOSH, Wis–Students of color are still far more likely to be suspended or expelled from Oshkosh schools than their white peers, and those in surrounding districts. A group called Racial Equity Advocacy and Leadership in Oshkosh is out with a report showing discipline rates for Black and brown students in 2022 far exceeded those for white kids across all ages and schools in the district.

The report also finds Oshkosh students that are Black or Hispanic are six times more likely to be suspended than children with the same racial identifications in Appleton or Fond du Lac, and at a rate that exceeds the state average.
Earlier this month, the Oshkosh School District released a report showing suspensions and expulsions are down this school year thanks to new diversion programs.
