Footage from what is being called the BEST Tornado Intercept in History – was shot recently in Spalding, Nebraska.
Team Dominator in their tornado vehicle the Dominator 3 (a.k.a. Tornado Tank), took to the highways and byways of Nebraska in hopes of intercepting a tornado – those hopes were realized in the most awesome way!
In the video below the team led by Reed Timmer lets you experience firsthand what it’s like to be inside an actual tornado.
The footage is crazy and the lead-up is as suspenseful as any Hollywood blockbuster – actually better ’cause it’s REAL! Winds inside the supercell tornado were calculated around 147 later adjusted to a 163+ mph gust – which would make the twister a Category 3.
Along with the incredible footage from inside the funnel, Team Dominator got some fantastic establishing drone shots plus a bunch of essential telemetry to boot – which will help in the analyzation of storms in hopes of making forecasts and warnings more accurate – saving lives in the process.
