HOBART, Wis–The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department releases the name of the officer who accidentally shot himself during a traffic stop along Highway 29 last week. Samuel Schroeder suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident last Wednesday.
According to a release from the department, Schroeder had his handgun out of its holster at the time of the shooting–but was not directly engaged with the man in the other vehicle. An investigation into what caused the shooting continues.
The incident started with a request for a welfare check on the man, who was spotted by Schroeder along Highway 29.
