“Race for the Light started back in 2002, as an initiative by Christine Ann board members. Over the years, staff have taken on the event and it has become a holiday tradition for many in our community. Through unpredictable winter weather, thousands of participants of all ages (and even some furry friends) have run and walked through the beautiful Celebration of Lights display, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to support our services for survivors of domestic abuse,” shares executive director Alicia Gehrig.
While the Race for the Light event ends, Christine Ann plans to look ahead to many other fundraising events like
- Purse Bingo in September
- October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month
- Men Who Cook gala in February
“Our heartfelt thanks to sponsors, participants, volunteers, Celebration of Lights, and the City of Oshkosh for making Race for the Light a wonderful event for the last 20 years. We look forward to seeing you at the 20th and final Race for the Light event this Saturday, and at other Christine Ann events in the future,” shares Gehrig.
