A near collision of the guided-missile destroyer, Momsen, and the landing ship Harpers Ferry, has subsequently been described as “Warship Chicken.”
The incident was caught on video recently as the two warships came perilously-close to colliding in San Diego Bay.
Evasive maneuvers were taken (as you can hear in the footage below) by crewmen from both ships as they are are heard informing each other that they veering to port, or left, to eliminate the threat of a collision.
