It’s been a long time since Wisconsin had an operational TYME machine. I realize to those that didn’t grow up in that particular point in time… that sentence sounds strange, like Doc Brown is waiting outside with a running DeLorean (Mr. Fusion optional).
TYME stands for Take Your Money Everywhere – and the automated teller machines were ubiquitous (27,000+ locations) in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Florida and Michigan back in the day. But after a merger with Pulse in the early 2000’s, the era of the TYME machine came to an end. But that hasn’t stopped many of us from referring to ATM’s as TYME Machines (you can’t hear spelling) ever since – much to the bewilderment of anyone who wasn’t aware of what they were.
But now hope springs eternal with the announcement of the return of TYME.
After nearly 20 years, Landmark Credit Union is bringing back TYME to Southern Wisconsin and it’s 35 branches in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties.
Brian Melter, Landmark’s chief experience officer said the credit union decided to bring back TYME because it was an iconic part of Wisconsin and was an engaging way to showcase the latest ATM technology.
I, for one, can honestly say… it’s about time or TYME in the case.
