OSHKOSH, WI — Oshkosh Board of Education President Bob Poeschl steps down after a year-and-a-half at the helm and six-years as a board member. Poeschl made his resignation official at the end of Wednesday’s board meeting. He’s also stepping down as Winnebago County Board Supervisor for District 19, which he was elected to in 2022. Poeschl is joining Disability Rights Wisconsin to aid in fundraising and communications. Poeschel says his new post is part of something he’s long been committed to.
“The opportunity to improve the lives of persons with disabilities has been at the heart of my professional path well before I served the community as an elected official,” he said.
Poschel says while he’s enjoyed serving on the school board and as a county supervisor his new post will not allow him to continue in an elective capacity.
“Quite often, Disability Rights Wisconsin will litigate with school districts, municipalities and counties,” Poeschl said, “My capacity as an elected leader will create a clear conflict of interest.”
Board Vice President Dr. Barbara Herzog, who previous served as board president, will fill out the remainder of Poeschl’s term which runs unitl April 2023. The board of education will decide the next steps in filling the vice-president’s slot and other board vacancies when in October.
