(CHILTON, WI)–Calumet County Sheriff Mark Wiegert is calling it a career. Sheriff Wiegert announces in a news release that he’ll retire when his term expires in January 2023.
Wiegert has been Calumet County Sheriff since 2019. That caps a 31-year career that included working with the Brillion and Valders police departments prior to joining the sheriff’s department.
Wiegert says he’s choosing to retire now to give other candidate the time needed to circulate nomination paperwork. He calls now the right time “professionally and personally” to retire.
