Comic Gilbert Gottfried has died at age 67. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children.Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor. Love, the Gottfried family.”
According to Gilbert’s agent, he died from a heart abnormality called ventricular tachycardia due to myotonic dystrophy type II.
In addition to being an absolutely fearless standup comic Gilbert was the voice of the parrot Iago in The 1992 Disney movie Aladdin as well as being the original voice of the AFLAC duck.
During a 2019 appearance at the Skyline Comedy Club in Appleton, Gilbert was nice enough to join us in the studio. For a man who made his living being loud and boisterous, in person he was a kind, sweet, gentle man.
