There are those corny/punny ‘dad jokes’ that make everyone roll their eyes and groan. And then there are ‘dad jokes’ that make everyone freak out and fear for their very lives. This is an example of the later.
A guy in the U.K. played a terrible/tone deaf prank on his fiancée and their young son.
He calls them downstairs to watch an “emergency broadcast” on TV saying that a nuclear attack is “imminent.” It said, “You should now prepare for a nuclear strike. Be prepared to shelter for 14 days after the strike.”
It’s fake (found on YouTube), but the BBC announcer talks about radiation fallout, and implores people to seek shelter.
It looks very real. He knows this. They do not.
The guy lets his fiancée totally freak out as she begins calling family… before coming clean. Considering the state of the Russia/Ukraine conflict and the proximity of the U.K. his timing was either questionable or absolutely perfect. And that’s the DNA of comedy – timing.
Needless to say, he may be the one who has to seek shelter after the fallout from this prank.
