Gary Corbett may not be a household name, but he’s played with some pretty major bands in rock history. He toured with Kiss as their offstage keyboardist and backing vocalist in the ’80s and early ’90s. He then played with Cinderella until they officially disbanded in 2011. Before the world of rock called he co-wrote the legendary Cyndi Lauper song “She Bop.” After a battle with cancer, it is with sadness that we report Gary Corbett has lost that battle. His family in a statement said:
“Those who knew Gary know that we and the world of music have all lost a very talented, funny, kind and gentle soul.
“The pain cuts so deeply that our hearts are bleeding.
“A memorial event is being planned. The details will come at a later date
“Today is Gary’s birthday. Please keep Gary and our family in your thoughts and your heart.
“Gary Corbett will be truly and deeply missed by all who know him.
KISS took to Facebook to mourn the loss of Gary saying:
We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Gary Corbett to cancer. In addition to being a successful songwriter and session musician, Gary played keyboards on Paul’s first solo tour and with KISS during the Crazy Nights, Hot In The Shade and Revenge tours. We shared many great times back then and send our condolences to his wife Lenora and his family.
