Long-time Appleton School Board member and philanthropist Doctor John Mielke has died.
According to an obituary, Mielke passed away Wednesday at the age of 87.
He and his wife Sally used their foundation to benefit the Appleton School District, Lawrence University, and a number of health care programs in the Fox Cities.
He served 26-years on the school board before stepping down in 2017.
