This is WAPL Backtracks for August 20th, 2020.
Here’s some of the songs that were new to northeast Wisconsin this week in WAPL history…
This week in 1997, Aerosmith were riding high with their album “Nine Lives” and released the latest single, “Pink”.
“Since You Been Gone” was a song written and recorded by former Argent member Russ Ballard in 1976. In the next four years, three more versions of it were released by artists like Head East and Cherie & Marie Currie. It was this week in 1979 however when WAPL started playing the (arguably) most recognized version by Rainbow.
LOST CLASSIC: One of the most popular tracks at WAPL in the early 90’s was a smokin’ guitar instrumental by Eric Johnson called “Cliffs of Dover”, which The Rockin’ Apple started playing this week in 1990.
