The Oshkosh parks department is reopening playgrounds, courts, and fields around the city, while at the same time recommending that people not use them right now.
Director Ray Maurer says they know coronavirus is still here, and they posted signs telling people they’re using the facilities at their own risk. He says there are a lot of common touch points, especially on playground equipment.
Maurer reports they’ve also already been seeing people from different households gathering in the parks.
The bathrooms at several parks and city boat launches are opening today, with more next week. People will also be able to use the beach at Menominee Park.
Maurer is urging people to follow social distancing guidelines, and bring their own hand sanitizer and wipes.
