There will be another police dog on duty in Calumet County later this year.
The Sheriff’s Department raised about $100,000 to get a second K-9 unit.
Deputy Will Pearson and his K-9, Amer, have been working together for about four years. In that time, Pearson says Amer has been deployed almost 400 times, and he’s helped make nearly 200 arrests.
Bob and Pat Endries donated the final $10,000 to reach the goal. They had already given $15,000.
The department hopes the new K-9 will be trained and ready in the fall.
