In 1945, Walt Disney and Salvador Dalí began collaborating on an animated film. Unfortunately, due to money trouble at Walt Disney Studios, the project remained unfinished until 1999 when Walt’s nephew Roy E. Disney found the project and had it finished.
Premiering 58 years after the start of its creation, Destino premiered at the New York Film Festival in 2003, later receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film.
And now it’s getting a new set of viewers because, like all really trippy things, someone has added the music of Pink Floyd.
The animated film isn’t long enough to sync up with all of “Dark Side of the Moon” like people have done with The Wizard of Oz. However, someone figured that in both length and in matching an oft-used theme in Dali’s work, the song “Time” would fit perfectly.
Check it out and judge for yourself.
