Our mail on Friday included something wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped in cardboard and held together by about a half roll of packing tape. “What could it be?” was my first question. “Should I call the bomb squad” was my second. Instead, remembering that I don’t have anything to live for, I decided to open it myself.
Turns out, a listener , Linda Haag from Green Bay, used her artistic ability to preserve our profile picture on wood. It appears to be burned on there which made me flashback to Christmas when I was about 8 years old and I got a wood burning set.
In no time flat I accidentally burned the hell out of my fingers and arms only to have mom take it away from me. I never saw it again. However, apparently forgetting what a disaster the wood burning set was, the following Christmas I received…another brand new wood burning set and whole set of new burns and lesions.
So, from someone who was only ever been able to burn himself with wood burners, I am very impressed with Linda’s efforts. I can’t imagine how many Band Aids I’d have gone through to even try to do this.
On the other hand, if I’m mistaken and it’s brown ink on wood, it’s still a pretty amazing pair of likenesses. Thanks Linda!
